Family Impact Seminar
Family Impact Seminar
Family Impact Seminars are nonpartisan educational seminars, briefing reports and discussion sessions for state policymakers including state legislators, legislative aides, Governor's Office staff, legislative support bureau personnel, and state agency administrators on family issues. Each seminar features a topic select
ed by a bi-partisan advisory group of legislators and policymakers covering timely policy issues with a family perspective such as early childhood education,
long-term care, preparing communities and families for the new economy and strengthening family finances. Scholarly experts present objective non-partisan research information that analyzes the consequences to families of a current issue, policy, or program.
Michigan is one of 30 network sites receiving technical support from the Policy Institute for Family Impact Seminars at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Since 2000, Michigan has held 16 Family Impact Seminars attracting participants who report that the seminars have been relevant, informative, and objective. Recently, the Kellogg Foundation through the Policy Institute for Family Impact Seminars at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, has agreed to provide partial support for the seminars in Michigan.
